Frequently Asked Questions

Are your courses Nationally Accredited?  What does that mean?

LifeBrand received its first National Accreditation from the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) in 2022 for its Social Media Literacy & Wellness “Professionals” Course (formerly “Social Media Accountability & Awareness”).  In 2023, the company received National Accreditation for its Social Media Literacy & Wellness (SMLW) Student course and its Social Media Literacy & Wellness Name Image & Likeness (SMLW-NIL) course which was developed for athletes and micro-influencers.

The Program earned this prestigious designation of becoming Nationally Accredited by submitting an application demonstrating the program's compliance with ICE 1100:2019 - Standard for Assessment-Based Certificate Programs. ICE 1100 was first published in 2009 as the first standard for assessment-based certificate programs. The Standard is approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for adoption as an American National Standard.

The Institute for Credentialing Excellence is the leading international membership organization representing the credentialing community.  ICE fulfills its mission through the delivery of education and training programs, in setting quality standards for credentialing, and by providing accreditation services.

What is the purpose of the Social Media Literacy & Wellness (SMLW) Professionals e-course?

The “Social Media Literacy & Wellness” e-course (formerly known as the "Social Media Accountability & Awareness" e-course) is the first ever Nationally Accredited social media training for the workplace. Most companies have sexual harassment, diversity, and conflict resolution training throughout the year but there is no current standard for social media education focusing on positive and proper use, leading to an epidemic of damaging and regretful social media content. The purpose of this course is to train all participants on how to positively and professionally represent themselves and their personal brand on social media as well as the larger brand of the employer they are a part of and represent.

What is the purpose of the Social Media Literacy & Wellness (SMLW) Student e-course?

The “Social Media Literacy & Wellness” (SMLW) e-course is designed for both secondary level students and college students.  It is aligned with the Collaborative for Academic Social Emotional Learning Framework (CASEL) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Digital Citizenship Standards.  The goal is to help students recognize and implement a standard for positive and responsible social media use as it pertains to interacting, communicating and representing themselves and their personal brand on social media and online.

Why does my certificate have an expiration date and why is it only valid for one year?

Most training program certificates are only valid for a short timeframe and require a renewal process. Given the landscape of social media and how quickly platforms and purpose of use changes, it is to the learning participant’s benefit (and to their employers) to refresh themselves with course content so they understand how to best protect themselves, their personal brand and the employer or university they represent.  Additionally, our team will make any applicable changes to course content to keep up with the latest research and trends that become available for an optimal learning experience and to further adhere to the program objectives.

You have the option to “opt-in” and subscribe to receive email updates on program changes.  This includes reminders of when your certificate is 90, 60, and 30 days away from expiring along with information on how to re-enroll in the course to renew and maintain an active certificate for future years.

What can be inferred about an individual holding a valid SMLW "Professionals" certificate?

Someone holding a Social Media Literacy & Wellness course certificate (formerly a "Social Media Accountability & Awareness" certificate) communicates to others they have spent time learning and understanding what is okay to post and comment about online against other types of content they should be careful about and avoid. The certificate reflects favorably on the individual who now understands the importance of having a strong personal brand and reputation both in person and online. The certificate indicates those who hold it and those who perform well on the assessment are less of a risk to use social media in destructive and negative ways that could harm their own personal brand as well as the brand of their employer or university while maintaining a positive online presence.  A table can be viewed for your reference which shows the connection between program objectives, assessment performance and associated proficiency levels.
